How to Connect Excel to Zoho Books

Excel can be beneficial for working with data from Zoho Books for several reasons. 1. In Excel, go to the Devart tab and click Get Data. The Connection Editor dialog will open.

2. Select Zoho Books from the Data Source list.

3. Specify the following parameters:

  • Data Center: Choose the data center of Zoho Books you want to connect to. The list of available data centers includes the US, Europe, China, India, Australia, Japan, the UK, and Canada.
  • Organization ID: Enter the identifier of your organization in Zoho Books. This parameter determines which specific organization in your Zoho Books account you want to access.
  • Refresh Token: Type the renewable access token.

The refresh token can be generated via the web login. For this, log in to your Zoho Books account in a browser. Then navigate to the integration or API settings. And finally, create a new token and save it for future use in Excel. This token will allow Excel to access your Zoho Books account without requiring authorization each time.

4. To test the configured connection, click Test Connection.

1. Click Next and the Query Builder window will open.

Load data using an SQL query

There is an alternative way for importing data to Excel. You can do this with the help of a statement on the SQL Query tab.

1. In the Query Builder window, go to SQL Query.

3. Check the SELECT query or modify it if necessary.

4. To specify the import options, click Next.

5. To import Zoho Books data using the statement, click Finish. You'll be able to see the data in the active Excel sheet after the Import Data Wizard has been completed.

Edit Zoho Books data in Excel

It's possible to modify the imported data via Edit Mode in Excel. This option allows performing such operations:

  • Edit cell contents: Change the text, numbers, or formulas in cells.
  • Insert and delete text: Add or remove characters within a cell.
  • Use Arrow Keys in cells: Navigate through the text within a cell without moving to other cells.

To enable the mode, on the Devart tab, click Edit Mode.

Upload Excel data into Zoho Books

If you need to add extra rows to the Excel table, you can do it using the context menu:

1. Select the row below/above which you want to add a new row.

2. Right-click the selected row and navigate to Insert > 1 Row Above/1 Row Below.

Having finished working with the data in Excel, you should push the made modifications to Zoho Books. For this, just click Commit on the toolbar. In case it's necessary to revert the changes, click Rollback.
